It’s about seeing itself… you're taking life and turning it into a photograph. And that precision of description is something very important to a lot of photographers. But I am moving away from that specificity – that decisive moment. I’m trying to get into a more messy, emotional, psychological place with my work – Tabitha Soren

Created during Soren’s residency the Structuring Absence series is comprised of two layers of stacked fine metal mesh.  Wooden stretcher bars are visible at different light levels; they interfere with the way a viewer absorbs and understand her work. This series requires a viewer to slow down to and participate in contemplating a quiet, intimate moment.
