2018 highlights include Oakland artist @jeffhantman - During his residency at Local Language Hantman worked with a combination of digital tools: the cnc to cut wood armatures and the UV flatbed to print imagery on found wood. Back in his studio Hantman reassembled the artworks, modifying and adjusting imagery to create new narratives and compositions. . . Hantman’s AIR editions are dimensional wall sculptures, made to order on our cnc and UV flatbed printer - see our online gallery to purchase. Local Language is an art, design, and fabrication studio that curates art collections for commercial properties. We host an ambitious artist residency program for local artists that would like to take advantage of our digital tools, hand work capabilities, technological expertise, and space to further their own art practice. Our exhibition space showcases Artist in Residence artwork and is open to the public Thursday, Friday 5-9pm and Saturday 2-5pm in conjunction with the tasting bar courtesy @oaklandspirits yum. Looking back at 2018 and some of our Artists in Residence this year... We enjoyed experimenting in porcelain with @rechengtsang and her elegant drawings. Our UV flatbed printer cannot replace her hand work, but is a great tool to achieve her delicate marks nonetheless. We learn something new from each artist that helps us pass on the learning and new techniques to the next. Creativity abounds! . . .
